Hazelnut
The hazelnut (Corylus avellana L. , 1753 ) is a fruit tree belonging to the Betulaceae family .
The hazelnut is the fruit of the hazelnut tree, a plant cultivated by man since ancient times.
In our nursery you can find some of the most important hazelnut varieties:
Tonda Gentile delle Langhe, trilobate.

Among the characteristics that make this variety particularly valuable, the following should be mentioned in particular:
• the round shape of the fruit which favours quick mechanical shelling, keeping the seed intact
• the thin shell which gives a high yield of shelled product, from 46 to 49%.
• the seed has a good aroma and delicate flavour.
• the fat content is limited and therefore has good shelf life without problems of rancidity.
• the thin film that surrounds the seed (perisperm) is easily removed after roasting.
The Piedmont hazelnut is grown at altitudes between 150 and 750 meters. Yields can reach or exceed 24 quintals/hectare. Due to its high yield and, above all, its organoleptic qualities, it is considered the best variety worldwide and commands higher market prices than any other.
Tree : medium vigour. Semi-expanding habit.
Taste : sweet and aromatic. It stands out for its exceptional organoleptic properties.
Production : 24 quintals/hectare
Shelled yield : 46% - 49%
Harvest : medium early. Mid-third ten days of August.
Flowering : Male flowering time: very early. Female flowering time: medium late.
Franciscan.

Cultivar of Italian origin obtained by crossing Tonda Gentile Romana and Tonda Giffoni by the University of Perugia (breeders Agostino Tombesi, Daniela Farinelli and Mirco Boco) with European patent No. EU 52157 of 28 March 2019.
The remarkable hazelnut production is linked to the presence of twigs with shorter internodes, resulting in a greater availability of flowers, including the female flowers used for fruit production. Fruit production can begin as early as the third year after planting.
It is a hazelnut suitable for use in the confectionery industry and, among its many peculiarities, we find its long shelf life, high productivity and rapid entry into production.
Tree : High vigour. Semi-erect growth habit. Early entry into production. High productivity.
Taste : intense aroma, sweet flavour, high aromatic persistence
Shelled yield : 45% - 48%
Flowering : Male flowering time: late.
Female flowering time: late.
